David F. Power – President and CEO

Prior to leading Alacrity Biosciences in 2005, Dave Power served Allergan in a number of capacities for more than 20 years. He started in research and development as a Regional Clinical Research Scientist responsible for running Allergan’s clinical trials on the East Coast. In 1987, he entered the Allergan sales force as a Special Accounts Manager in New York City, calling on teaching hospital accounts. In 1990, Dave moved to Allergan’s Irvine, Calif. headquarters, accepting the position of Product Manager for Allergan’s Ocular Surface Disease line. From 1992, Dave spearheaded the global marketing efforts to bring new products to market in the area of ocular surface disease, retinal disease and drug delivery. In 2005, Dave transferred his talents to the launch of Alacrity Biosciences, where he focuses on developing new treatments for ophthalmic diseases.

Dave earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. He then went on to earn his M.S. in Biological Sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, and returned to Seton Hall University to complete his Masters of Business Administration in Marketing.

Karin Ludwig, M.D. – Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ludwig joined Alacrity Biosciences in July 2007. Dr. Ludwig brings more than 16 years of medical and drug development experience to the company. Most recently she had served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Research at Amicus Therapeutics. She began her career in clinical drug development at Farmitalia Carlo Erba before becoming head of clinical research at the German subsidiary of Pharmacia in 1993. Subsequently she held various research and development positions of increasing responsibility at Pharmacia & Upjohn and Pharmacia in the US, and in the UK. Following the acquisition of Pharmacia in 2003, Dr. Ludwig served as Group Leader and Senior Director of the US medical programs in Endocrinology and Ophthalmology at Pfizer. She received her medical degree from Freiburg University and trained in general surgery at University Hospital in Tuebingen, Germany.

Martyn Gunning – Vice-President, Business Development

Mr. Gunning brings seventeen years of pharmaceutical industry experience, incorporating a broadly based and successful career in research, development, international commercialization of ethical pharmaceuticals and management consultancy. Mr. Gunning has worked as an employee of such companies as Roussel, Ipsen, Allergan, and Spectrum Pharmaceuticals. He has also worked as a consultant both independently and as an employee of Equinox.

Mr. Gunning's knowledge and experience in ophthalmology combined with his extensive contacts throughout the pharmaceutical and biotech industries will be invaluable in helping Alacrity acquire/in-license new products that fit its business model.
